I am really excited about these. I haven’t posted in a while considering there have been a lot of changes and new things happening in Devin and I’s lives. Now that I have a moment, let’s make some paper lantern jellyfish!
These are so simple, so cute and so effective if you are going for an “under the sea” or ocean theme for a nursery, baby shower, kids party, etc. These lanterns are actually from our wedding, so they are extra special to us that we get to use them in our nursery.
Tissue Paper – choose any colors you like, the tissue paper will be used for the tentacles
Paper Lanterns – Any color you like, I used circle shapes with batteries packs at the bottom.
Fold your tissue paper in half many times until you get to about a 2 inch wide piece. You will want to cut slits on the side that is folded. Be sure you do not cut all the way through, you will need some paper left to glue to the lantern.
Place some hot glue around the battery pack or bottom of the lantern. Place the strip of cut tissue paper on the glue. Continue to do this until you have reached your desired amount of frills.
Cut your tentacles. You will do this by cutting about a 1-2 inch strip in a circle, creating spirally tentacles. Then you will attach these around the battery pack.
Your finished product should look something like this:
We are hanging two small ones and one large one in the nursery for our “under the sea” themed nursery for the baby! The large lantern I did I used orange tissue paper for the frills and tentacles. Since I used battery powered lanterns, I can switch the light on and they become little night lights!
Thanks for reading and try it out!
